High on Technology & Logistics
Carmel is headquartered in one of the world’s leading hi-tech centers. By combining internationally acclaimed, home-grown agricultural advances with state-of-the-art technology, Carmel's logistics are positioned at the cutting edge for ensuring freshness.

Providing Produce as Fresh as the Moment it was Picked
The name Carmel stands for produce that feels and tastes as fresh as the moment it was picked. To ensure this freshness, Agrexco has made a significant investment in technology and logistics. It all begins with Carmel growers, who benefit from Agrexco’s know-how for improving packaging quality and cooling facilities. Once pallets are packed, Agrexco’s state-of-the-art logistics steps in, making sure produce reaches its destination as fast and fresh as possible. To guarantee crispness and flavor, Carmel’s Israeli air and sea terminals are equipped with large cold stores capable of varying temperature conditions in order to meet specific produce requirements.

Sailing into a New, Advanced Technological Era
Different types of produce call for special vessels that can be loaded and unloaded through side doors, with elevators bringing in the pallets. The optimal way for shipping agricultural produce, this method preserves temperature control by shielding produce from outside weather conditions and enabling it to directly enter a cold environment. Agrexco has always abided by this shipping technique. Now that we’ve entered the 21st Century, Agrexco has upgraded shipping procedures with two newly launched cargo vessels – Carmel Ecofresh and Carmel Bio-Top. With these two ships, Carmel has set sail into an advanced technological era guaranteeing freshness and traceability. Technologically advanced, environmentally-friendly vessels, Carmel Ecofresh and Carmel Bio-Top provide tailored temperature and humidity control for specific crops in every storage compartment. In addition, every Carmel item has its own “Identity Card” file bearing the name of its grower and tracing it from harvest, through the exact time of handling, storage, packing and refrigeration. Once ships anchor in Marseille, produce is unloaded in Carmel’s state-of-the-art terminal, where it is stored and distributed throughout the Continent and the U.K.

Using the Wings of Technology for Highly Perishable Produce
Carmel’s Israeli state-of-the-art air shipping terminal is dedicated to handling chilled produce picked and packed for immediate shipment. Most of Carmel’s air shipments board 747 cargo planes destined for Carmel’s Liege terminal, where produce is unloaded and immediately distributed throughout the Continent and the U.K. Reaching destinations across the globe, Carmel produce also lands in North America and the Far East on scheduled 747 cargo and passenger flights.
