SHARON FRUIT, Agrexco's renowned brand name for persimmon, is about to reach the supermarket chains in Europe. First shipment leaves on October 8th.
Shiny orange color, smooth firm skin and flesh, Sharon Fruit is a seedless variety of persimmon, sweet in taste with exceptionally high levels of sugar, (above 20% BRIX).
Sharon Fruit plays a prominent role in many culinary traditions all over the globe and can be eaten fresh or dried, raw or cooked.
For the last few years, dieticians recommend it as an important addition to the daily nutrition because of its prominent health traits: rich in fibers, a trait that creates a sense of satiety ,carotene that is transformed in our body to Vitamin A, antioxidants, low levels of calories and high levels of calcium and magnesium.
Sharon Fruit is grown along Israel’s coastline , from the western Galilee through Zichron Yaakov, Binyamina, Givat Ada, the Sharon area ,Shfelat Yehuda up to Ashkelon and its outskirts.
Sharon Fruit is grown according to the high standards set by Agrexco that comply with Europgap standards and is sought after all over Europe, the Mediterranean area, South – East Asia, North America and Africa.
Yuval Naamani, Product Manager in Agrexco informed that this year’s export of Sharon Fruit is expected to reach 7000 tons, a distinctive 75% rise in comparison to last year, "Export season ", he said, "will continue till April 2009 and we hope to add new customers who will cherish Sharon Fruit’s unique flavour"
