Agrexco marks an impressive 25% increase in the export of "Camel" green grapes variety, EARLY SWEET, a popular variety in Europe, in general, and in the U.K. in particular.
After a long, cold winter there is nothing like a cluster of grapes to bring you back the long forgotten tastes and sweet memories of sunny days.
EARLY SWEET they are called and indeed, they are sweet (15-17% BRIX) , tasty and seedless with an edible, transparent and almost invisible smooth skin.
This year’s yield is very successful both in quality and in quantity with a total of 2500 tonnes versus last year’s 2000 tonnes. Total cultivation area amounts to 250 hectares with 50 vine growers.
Israel’s climate provides a long grapes season, May till September, since vines grown in different zones reach their ripeness in different points of time.
Eitan zvi – grapes product manager in Agrexco said: The first part of the season begins in May and continues till mid June. The EARLY SWEET grapes grown in the eastern part of Israel ripen first and reach the market early.
The second part of the season continues till September, with the arrival of grapes from the central part of Israel.
