Agrexco Renews Figs Export After a Short Spring Break
First shipment of premium CARMEL figs, Negro largo, from Neot Hakikar, is on its way to Europe.

Neot Hakikar, with its desert like climate, located in the southern part of Israel, precedes any other figs cultivation area, in the northern hemisphere. In a few days time, figs from Masuah, a village in the Jordan Valley, will follow.

Bezalel Madmon, product manager in Agrexco informed that CARMEL figs enjoy a good reputation because of their premium quality, reflected not only in their taste but also in the fact they are free from any residuals. However, this year, their summer export will not exceed 50-60 tonnes .

Figs are one of the seven species mentioned in the bible. They are part of the Israeli landscape and rooted in many traditions.
Fig trees have been with us for millions of years, providing mankind with their wonderful sweet fruit, so easy to enjoy. Nowadays, figs’ nutritious advantages are well noted and add to their attraction. The fruit contains significant amounts of calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iron as well as fibers and anti oxidants.

CARMEL figs are sought after by many European countries including Italy, the U.K., Russia, as well as the Far East and South Africa.
A sensual, voluptuous fruit, with a short period of presence in the market, CARMEL figs are a rare, irresistible purchase.
