Sweet and juicy, CARMEL’s exclusive Turkish variety BURSA premium figs offer a new dimension of sweetness. The BURSA figs are grown in the Lower Galilee, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, where climate conditions are optimal for their growth.
This variety of figs has a full dependence on wasps in its pollination/fertilization process, a fact that eliminates usage of pesticides in order not to harm the wasps. The result is a tasty, cleaner, residue-free fruit, healthier and "greener".
Figs are considered as "fitness fruit" since they are high in natural and simple sugars and as such are a perfect energy snack. They contain good levels of calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, manganese and copper as well as dietary fibers and vitamins.
Bezalel Madmon, product manager in Agrexco, informed that 30 tonnes of figs will be exported this season, the same volume as last season.
He stated that target markets are the U.K and central European countries.
Figs will be sold in a 1 kg carton packaging as well as in punnets containing 4 premium BURSA figs.
